2010 Events

Medieval Feasts

Come on out and enjoy the grog, grub, and gathering that has become one of the Festival’s most popular events! The evening begins at 5:30pm on our beautiful riverbank site; relax on the riverside deck and enjoy a cold drink from Sir Toby’s Tavern before digging into the feast at 6:00pm. Live renaissance and contemporary music will set the tone along with exciting medieval entertainment that will round off the festivities! Afterwards, it’s off to the big festival tent to enjoy one of Shakespeare’s favourites! Rembrandt’s Dining Room returns this year with a delicious new menu – don’t miss out!

Tickets are $75 (includes meal and show). Click Here for the full menu!

There are two opportunities to take part in this outstanding experience:
Sunday July 11, 2010 - The Merry Wives of Windsor
Sunday July 18, 2010 - The Merchant of Venice

Treasure Trove Draw

With great prizes to win, the Treasure Trove Draw has quickly become one of our favourite fundraisers that is certain to help keep our tents on the riverbank for many years to come! During every performance, we provide chances to enter into our Treasure Trove draw box. At the end of the season, we draw three lucky names – each winning a Treasure Trove of prizes. While enjoying the show (or just enjoying the Meewasin Trail) don’t forget to enter to win!

Great-West Life, London Life & Canada Life Student Matinee

On August 20th, participants from various Saskatoon-based youth-at-risk groups will be treated to an exciting matinee performance of The Merchant of Venice, courtesy of Great-West Life, London Life & Canada Life! This fun event will serve as a great opportunity for underprivileged youths to become educated and entertained by Shakespeare in a professional theatre environment. To register for this event, contact us at shakespeare.cs@sasktel.net

Family Matinees

JULY 11, 18, 25 & 31 AND AUGUST 1, 7, 8, & 15

Parents or adults attending *any* weekend matinee performance with a student or youth are encouraged to take advantage of our Family Matinee Discount program! Here’s how it works: For each student or youth ticket purchased, adults will receive $5 back on the purchase of their own ticket for a total allowable savings of up to $10 per adult! This offer isn’t just for parents either; uncles, aunts, grandmas and grandpas are all encouraged to take advantage of this offer, so come on out and make Shakespeare a part of your family this summer!

As an important addition to this program, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan (with support from the Community Initiatives Fund) is making 70 free tickets available to Métis and First Nations families in an effort that will ensure that Shakespeare can be enjoyed by all, as it was intended: performed live by professional actors. Procrastinators’ Week

JULY 12th to 18th

For the first time ever, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan is offering a special box office discount on any ticket purchases made for shows playing in its first full week of performances. Dubbed Procrastinators’ Week (for those who find themselves missing out on the shows each year), this fantastic new discount opportunity offers a $5 savings to all adults, seniors, students, and youths wishing to attend evening performances between July 13th and 18th. For even better savings, fans can check out a thrilling matinee performance of The Merry Wives of Windsor on Sunday July 18th, when adult admission drops to $20, student and senior to $15, and youth to $8. These are cheapest performances you’ll find at the Festival all summer - if you’re looking for great savings, or simply find yourself missing the chance to take in the shows each season, this might be the perfect opportunity for you!

Sir Toby’s Tavern and the Community Showcase Stage

Paddock Wood Brewing Co. is back with a fine selection of superb beers including Black Friar; a tasty new formula that was brewed specially for Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan. On select nights, relax on the riverside deck and enjoy a variety of exciting pre and post-show entertainment on the free Community Showcase Stage! Enjoy everything from jazz music and folk dancing to short plays and poetry reading. On Tuesdays and select Sundays, get prepped for the shows at our Pre-Show Chats; or shoot the breeze with the cast and crew at our popular Post-Show Talkbacks every Sunday at 10pm.

This year, we introduce our new In-Conversation Series; join us on Wednesdays at 7:30pm for a fun discussion with a variety of special guests from across our community as they share their unique perspective on Shakespeare’s timeless stories.

Pre and Post-Show activities take place on-site in the Elizabethan Village and are free to the public. Curious about the Festival but not sure if it’s for you?
