2011 Events

Medieval Feast Fundraisers

Come on out and enjoy the grog, grub, and gathering that has become one of the Festival's most popular events! The evening begins at 5:00pm on our beautiful riverbank site; relax on the riverside deck and enjoy a cold drink from Sir Toby's Tavern before digging into the feast at 5:30pm. Live renaissance and contemporary music will set the tone along with exciting medieval entertainment by the Society for Creative Anachronism! Afterwards, it's off to the big festival tent to enjoy one of Shakespeare's favourites! Cathy's Catering provides a delicious new menu - don't miss out!

Tickets are $75 (includes meal and show).

There are two opportunities to take part in this outstanding experience:
Sunday July 10, 2011 - Love's Labour's Lost
Sunday July 17, 2011 - The Winter's Tale

Sunday Tea with Mark Fundraiser

Join Artistic Director Mark von Eschen for tea, cupcakes, and conversation on Sunday July 31st. This new fundraiser begins at noon in the Elizabethan Village followed by a matinee performance of The Winter's Tale at 1pm. Tickets are $35 and include tea (courtesy of Cuppa 'T), cupcakes (by The Cupcake Conspiracy), and the mainstage performance. Seating is limited.

Family Matinees

JULY 10, 17, 24 & 31 AND AUGUST 7, 13, 14 & 20

Parents or adults attending *any* weekend matinee performance with a student or youth are encouraged to take advantage of our Family Matinee Discount program! Here's how it works: For each student or youth ticket purchased, adults will receive $5 back on the purchase of their own ticket for a total allowable savings of up to $10 per adult! This offer isn't just for parents either; uncles, aunts, grandmas and grandpas are all encouraged to take advantage of this offer, so come on out and make Shakespeare a part of your family this summer!

As an important addition to this program, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan (with support from the Community Initiatives Fund) is making 70 free tickets available to Métis and First Nations families in an effort that will ensure that Shakespeare can be enjoyed by all, as it was intended: performed live by professional actors. Procrastinators' Week

JULY 11th TO 17th

After its extremely well received debut at least year's festival, Procrastinator's Week is back! For those who find themselves missing out on their opportunity to experience the shows each season, this fantastic discount opportunity provides a little extra incentive to attend the shows early! Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan is offering a $3 savings to all adults, seniors, students, and youths wishing to attend evening performance during our first full week of performances (July 11 - 17). For even better savings, fans can check out a thrilling matinee performance of Love's Labour's Lost on Sunday July 17th, when adult admission drops to $22, student and senior to $17, and youth to $8. These are the lowest priced performances you'll find at the Festival all summer - if you're looking for great savings, or simply find yourself missing the chance to take in the shows each season, this might be the perfect opportunity for you!

Sir Toby's Tavern and the Community Showcase Stage

Before the shows stop by Sir Toby's Tavern for an ice-cold drink or frozen treat! Paddock Wood Brewing Co. is back with a fine selection of superb beers including the new 1,000 Monkey Imperial Stout; a tasty new formula for this season. On select nights throughout the summer come on down and relax on the riverside deck and enjoy a variety of exciting pre and post-show entertainment on the free Community Stage! This season, look for a variety of local artists, musicians, dancers, writers, and more playing before the shows at 6:45 or afterwards at 9:45 on Friday's, Saturday's, and Sundays. Click here for an up-to-date schedule of all Community Showcase Stage events!

Pre and Post-Show Activities

On Tuesdays and Sundays, get prepped for the shows with Artistic Director Mark von Eschen at our popular Pre-Show Chats (7:00pm); or shoot the breeze with the cast and crew at our exciting follow-up to all Sunday evening performances, the Post-Show Talkbacks. Join us for our In-Conversation Series on Wednesdays (7:00pm) for a fun discussion with a variety of special guests from across our community as they share their unique perspective on Shakespeare's timeless stories.

Pre and Post-Show activities take place on-site in the Elizabethan Village and are free to the public. Curious about the Festival but not sure if it's for you? Here is a great opportunity to learn about the plays, the Festival, and Shakespeare himself in a fun, non-academic setting! Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned Shakespeare veteran, there's something here for everyone! Come out and see what we're all about!

Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life Youth Matinee

August 20th

On August 20th, participants from various Saskatoon-based youth-at-risk groups will be treated to an exciting matinee performance of Love's Labour's Lost, courtesy of Great-West Life, London Life & Canada Life! This fun event will serve as a great opportunity for underprivileged youths to become educated and entertained by Shakespeare in a professional theatre environment. Treasure Trove Fundraiser Draw

With great prizes to win, the Treasure Trove Draw has become one of our favourite fundraisers that is certain to help keep our tents on the riverbank for many years to come! During every performance, we provide a chance to enter our Treasure Trove draw. At the end of the season, we draw three lucky names - each winning a Treasure Trove of prizes. While enjoying the shows (or just enjoying the Meewasin Trail), don't forget to enter to win!

It costs $106.95/person to go to the Stratford Theatre and watch a professional Shakespearian production.
